Kurucz is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the April 27, 2018, death of his three-month-old son, Jayden Cycluck-Kurucz. Kurucz wasn’t charged until the Sept. 18, 2019, conclusion of a so-called Mr. Big undercover operation conducted by members of the Calgary Police Service. Earlier this month, Poelman ruled the comments made by Kurucz to an undercover officer at a covert location in ReginaMahoney had challenged the admissibility of the confession given by Kurucz following a staged police pursuit in the Saskatchewan capital.
But Poelman agreed with Crown prosecutors Hyatt Mograbee and Alexandra Russell that police did not violate Kurucz’s constitutional rights during their investigation, which culminated in the accused’s admissions.Article content
