Edmonton Police have confirmed that both police officers killed Thursday died by gunshot wounds after autopsies

Const. Travis Jordan, 35, and Const. Brett Ryan, 30, died after being gunned down in an apartment building shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday while responding to a family violence call. “It has since been confirmed that neither officer discharged their firearm,” the police statement said. On Saturday, Premier Danielle Smith said a regimental funeral could come as early as next weekend, but details are still being finalized. The Edmonton Police Service has yet to respond to Postmedia’s request for confirmation about plans for a public funeral and procession, but in a news release Sunday offered an update on the autopsies and said they will release information on the funeral plans for the fallen officers as it becomes available.
