Following his arrival in Saint Marie several episodes ago, Andrew had been laying low and hiding from Neville. However DI Flitcroft revealed that his former colleague had fled the UK following corruption charges over a case the pair worked on together.
Out of time, Neville was charged with murder and sent to prison. But just as all hope is lost the final piece of evidence came to light – leading to the breakthrough that proved the DI's innocence. As the team questioned whether a relative of the woman's could be involved in framing Neville they received a tip that Cartwright had received a visit from a fair-haired woman in her late twenties on the day of the murder.Meanwhile, Neville mulled the case over from his cell and remembered an issue with the keys at the crime scene. He retraced his steps from the day of the murder and came to the same conclusion as everyone else – Sophie is the killer.
"I know it was you Sophie, I know it was you who stabbed David Cartwright and tried to frame me for his murder," he said, explaining how the team had uncovered her true identity as Grace's sister and her involvement in Cartwright's death.
