Scots are asked to 'remain vigilant' after multiple suspected cases of squirrel pox have been reported.
Squirrel pox is not considered harmful to humans but could have fatal consequences for the rare red squirrel population. Andrew Hodgkinson, project officer for Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels said: “This is a particularly vulnerable time for red squirrels, as they prepare for the upcoming mating season and increase contact with one another.
