De Ruyter: Eskom's reputation wrecker | The president and government went out of their way to mobilise resources for Eskom so that it delivered on its mandate.
Allow us to add a voice to the unfortunate and well-calculated comments made by Andre de Ruyter. The comments were well calculated because it is clear that what de Ruyter said was well-intentioned and carefully directed to pave his way out in a dramatic manner that would rescue his mangled reputation and dismal performance at Eskom.
De Ruyter, as the CEO of Eskom, was employed to deliver on key priority areas, manage the affairs of Eskom and account for all the monies and allocations of the accounting officer of Eskom. The president and government went out of their way to mobilise resources for Eskom so that it delivered on its mandate. De Ruyter, as the CEO, was expected to marshal all Eskom employees to perform in a manner that would motivate them and keep their morale high.
Clearly, this is a rich and fictional claim by De Ruyter. Or perhaps his hatred of the ANC and government has blocked his logic. As such, truth must be a sacrificial lamb. De Ruyter neither acknowledges nor mentions the role played by President Ramaphosa in securing this funding but instead appropriates it to Eskom, perhaps a convenient code to De Ruyter's fundraising prowess!Yet, it was President Ramaphosa himself, in appreciating this funding, stated that the $8.
