President Marcos will submit his proposed national budget for next year one week after his State of the Nation Address (SONA), the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced. | ManilaBulletin

At the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum on Wednesday, June 21, Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman said the DBM is now finalizing the details of the P5.768-trillion National Expenditure Program for 2024.

Under the Constitution, the proposed national budget must be submitted to Congress no later than 30 days after the President's SONA. The DBM document includes a breakdown of spending by sector, such as education, health, infrastructure, and defense. It also covers funding for government agencies and offices, as well as for the various programs and projects identified as priorities by the administration.

“I’m hopeful that it should be faster, because last year, when we submitted the NEP it was one week before the deadline, but this time, one week after the SONA, we will submit it. So we have extra two weeks,” the DBM chief said.
