Brazen robbers open fire at a popular Joburg shopping mall on midday Saturday. Dou you think criminals have become fearless of police?
A relaxed Saturday at the mall, turned into a day of panic for hundreds of shoppers at Cresta Mall in Randburg, as robbers force their way into a jewellery store.
According to reports, around 11 men with handguns hammers, and crowbars, shattered the glass display to gain entrance to Bello Bello jewellery store.Here is a video of the robbery at a jewellery store in Cresta, JHB, today.In the now viral video on social media, there appears to be no sense of urgency from the robbers while they loot the store despite onlookers.Speaking to the SABC, police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the suspects fired shots to escape.
“The suspects then fired shots randomly while fleeing to their getaway vehicles, a white Jetta and a silver Toyota Etios” says Muridili.In August 2021, security managed to intercept the robbers as they attempted to exit the mall. In an attempt to get away, the robbed left their loot. They fired several shots at the security officers who returned fire. They then jumped over a fence of an adjacent office park and attempted to hijack a staff vehicle. Two of the suspects were apprehended and handed over to the SAPS while the remaining four managed to flee.
