The Saskatchewan Amateur men's and women's golf championships tee off with Day 1 at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.
Obrigewitsch, from the Deer Valley Golf Course, shot a 4-under-par 68 Tuesday to take a one-shot lead at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.Tim Acaster, from the host NBGCC, sits tied for second at 3-under with Saskatoon Riverside’s Tommy Danielson and Riverside’s Jehremy Ryde, who all shot a 69 Tuesday.
Riverside’s Marc Sweeney and Connor Scissons both opened up with a 2-under 70 Tuesday, as did Kindersley’s Kyle Wiebe and Dakota Dunes’ Scott Allan. In the Saskatchewan Mid-Am men’s event, for golfers age 25 and older, Acaster and Ryde are tied for the lead.Advertisement 3A total of 105 golfers entered this week’s provincial men’s championship, which continues Wednesday with the second round.In the Saskatchewan Amateur women’s golf championship, Halle Crozier of the Royal Regina Golf Club leads after posting a 78 Tuesday.
Emily Cornwall of the Springbank Links Golf Course sits in second with a 79, followed by Holly Knudsen and Lauren Fox in a tightly contested event.Reigning provincial women’s champion Brooklin Fry is five back of the leader after settling for an 83 Tuesday.A total of 14 women are competing this week in the women’s event, which wraps up Thursday at NBGCC.
