Dashiki | Why stay in the ’burbs when it’s so costly?
Being taxed left, right and centre can’t be business as usual. It is akin to daylight robbery. Here I’m talking about the skyrocketing electricity tariffs and levies every year. To make matters worse, we don’t even know how they get to these ridiculous calculations.A new phenomenon, which I agree with and will soon join, has been spreading across the country rapidly. People are going back to their villages, where they are building new homes.
All they need is borehole water and an electricity connection, and they are home and dry. People have realised that suburban living is overrated as it offers nothing but financial stress. That adds to the already vicious circle that is further compounded by continual soaring fuel and food prices. You see, local authorities encourage people to convert to prepaid electricity and water meters – a good idea as everyone will be forced to pay.
My problem here is how the cost of the units is calculated – which I still can’t figure out. When you buy units later in the month, you are charged more, which seems like some form of punishment to me.
