Bicentennial School in Dartmouth remained closed for a second full day Monday, after air testing resulsts received Thursday showed higher than acceptable levels of asbestos in two of three rooms under renovations at the school. - Ryan TaplinStudents at Bicentennial School in Dartmouth spent a second day out of school Monday because of air quality testing for asbestos levels,

The school was shut down Thursday afternoon when air tests showed asbestos levels above acceptable limits in two of three rooms under renovation at the Victoria Road school. The tests were being done only in those rooms because they were closed off, but when the results came back the entire building was shut down as a precaution so tests throughout the school could take place. The results had still not come back as of early Monday afternoon, Halifax Regional Centre for Education spokeswoman Lindsey Bunin said.

The asbestos testing was a planned activity for the construction period, which started on Nov. 28. Students last had access to the rooms on Nov. 25.
