McDougall was arrested in June 2021 after members of the Halifax Regional Police-RCMP internet child exploitation unit, acting on a tip from the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, executed a search warrant at his residence. After he gets out of jail, McDougall will be on probation for two years. He will not be allowed to consume or possess alcohol or drugs and cannot be within 25 metres of any parks, playgrounds, schools, community centres or other places where children under the age of 16 are likely to be present.
