The Brazilian had surgery after sustaining a broken cheekbone but delivered some positive news.
Crocked Rangers striker Danilo revealed he hopes to be back playing “in a few weeks” as he continues to update fans following his weekend injury.
The 24-year-old scored the opening goal in the 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over St Johnstone before instantly suffering the after-effects of an accidental head collision with defender Liam Gordon. The striker was left in agony before the former Feyenoord and Ajax man was rushed straight to hospital to undergo surgery on a compound fracture and start his road to recovery.
Danilo has been posting updates on his Instagram page, including from his hospital bed. And his latest is a big boost to Michael Beale and the Ibrox side. He shared a snap relaxing on his couch at home alongside his dog with the message: “Back home. The recovery begins. Back on the field in a few weeks.”
Rangers boss Beale feared he would be without Danilo for a while following the injury. He said after the game: "I've just been told by the doctor that it's a fracture, so we'll have to see in terms of timescale when they operate on it. "He's had a couple of bits going on outside, so these two weeks were a chance for him to get up to speed with everything. He then goes and scores a really good goal, so in that moment the game is really cruel to him. It’s a huge blow.”
