Jones has missed the past two games — the Giants went 1-1 with Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback — and most likely will miss a third consecutive game, unless he receives medical clearance in the next two days.Left tackle Andrew Thomas, who has not played since straining a hamstring in the season-opening loss to the Cowboys, returned to practice, participating on a limited basis.
A case can be made that Thomas is the best player on the Giants’ roster. He was signed prior to the season to a five-year extension worth $117.5 million. If Thomas is able to play it allows Justin Pugh, 33, to move inside to left guard, where he is more comfortable, after filling in the past two games at left tackle.
Center John Michael Schmitz hurt his shoulder in the Week 4 loss to the Seahawks, forcing Ben Bredeson to move from guard to center.
