Dan Walker's been replaced on Channel 5 News tonight, after a bike accident left him feeling ‘glad to be alive’.
‘Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike,’ he wrote.
‘Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken,’ he added, revealing his face looking extremely swollen and bruised, as well as covered in blood, despite his attempt at smiling through the injuries.expressed his thanks to the NHS and gave shoutouts to two medical workers named Shaun and Jamie who helped him, as well as ‘the lovely copper at the scene’.
While he was scheduled to present 5 News at 5pm this evening, Metro.co.uk understands that Dan won’t be able to appear as he recovers from his ordeal.Tessa Chapman will instead take his place on the programme, who’s a chief correspondent and occasional presenter on the show. In his tweet revealing the extent of his injuries, Dan claimed that he was trying to smile for the pictures.
Several people rushed to wish him better on his recovery, including Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse, former finalist John Whaite and winner Rose Ayling-Ellis, after Dan competed on the programme in 2021.Comedian and Loose Women panelist Judi Love also wrote: ‘Omg get well soon hun. Thank God your okay xx.’
