The Dallas mayor challenged San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Twitter to a friendly wager on the NFL playoff game between the two area teams.
asking his nearly 41,000 followers on his personal account what he should bet Breed on this weekend’s game.“No guarantee she’ll actually agree to a wager, but worth a try!” he tweeted Monday.
Tristan Hallman, the mayor’s spokesman, said Johnson supports local sports teams and that the wagers are lighthearted. “We do serious work here trying to solve problems, but Dallas is a fun city, too,” Hallman said. “He wants to highlight Dallas culture and cuisine and this is a great way to do it.” It doesn’t appear Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, the top elected official in the city where the Cowboys play, jumped in on the friendly football rivalry on Twitter.
The 49ers also don’t play in their namesake city.
