Mario Morales, 34, said he thinks his wife, Yesica Martinez, 25, could still be alive if authorities had taken more time to look for her when he first tried to report her missing Friday.Mario Morales says he is looking for answers related to the death of his wife, Yesica Martinez, whose body was found in Dallas on Sunday morning — days after the man tried to report herMorales, a 34-year-old Pleasant Grove resident, said he and Martinez have been together for three years.

When she did not text or call him past 2 a.m., Morales said he got worried and went out to look for her. “They said, ‘Well, you know, she’s an adult so young ladies tend to break up with their partners,’” Morales recalled. When he reached out to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, he was told deputies spotted the vehicle, which appeared to be abandoned, on the side of the road and impounded it.Morales said he continued looking for his wife at local hospitals and jails and was able to make a “want-to-find” report, he said. Dallas police have confirmed that the report was made.

Doug Sisk, a spokesman for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, said deputies responded at 12:59 a.m. Friday to a crash near the southbound Interstate 35 connector to Woodall Rodgers Freeway. He said Monday the department is not aware of any witnesses to the crash.“Deputies did check the immediate area and did not locate anyone,” Sisk said in a written statement, adding that Dallas Fire-Rescue crews who arrived to the location before deputies also did not find a person.
