Daily UK Covid cases plummet 31% in a week — as ONS confirms latest wave HAS peaked
UKHSA bosses logged another 32,608 positive tests over the last 24 hours, down 30.8 per cent in a week. Hospitalisation data suggests pressure is continuing to ease on hospitals, with admissions falling 14%. However, fatality data is creeping upwards, with a further 350 virus deaths logged, up by a tenth in a week.
Gold-standard report estimates 3.77m people infected with Covid on any given day in the week ending April 9. Marks a near 9 per cent fall on the record 4.1m the previous week and puts an end to five-week spell of growth. Cases also decreased in Scotland and Northern Ireland and flattened off in Wales in sign of a UK-wide peak
