Does B.C. need more electric vehicle charging stations? Would that affect your decision to switch to an EV?

B.C. sales of electric cars are booming, as drivers seek environmental choices, and save on skyrocketing fuel costs. But with B.C.’s plan to phase out gas-powered vehicles by 2040, some are questioning whether the province is doing enough to help consumers make the switch. What do you think? Hyundai Canada has suggested that B.C. could become a leader if it mandated existing gas stations install electric and hydrogen fuel chargers, automatically creating a vast new charging network.

What do you think? Is this a good idea? Would a vast charging network factor in your decision to switch to an EV? What about the cost of electric or hybrid vehicles, which is still fairly high for many motorists? Are government subsidies — $5,000 provincially and $5,000 federally — enough to help out? We’d like to hear your thoughts. Take our poll and leave your comments below.
