Dada Morero, a seasoned politician with a history rooted in student activism and ANC leadership, has once again ascended to the position of mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
Morero solidified his influence within the ANC when he defeated deputy regional chairperson Eunice Mgcina on 5 June 2022, in a closely contested election for the position of regional chairperson, securing 153 votes to Mgcina’s 143., following the collapse of the DA-led coalition government. He was elected with the support of the DA’s former coalition partners, including the Patriotic Alliance and the Congress of the People.
