Garnering 85% support from all provinces is current DA leader John Steenhuisen's target in his bid for a second term, while no party bigwig has, so far, shown support for his opponent, Mpho Phalatse.
According to Steenhuisen’s campaign manager Ashor Sarupen, all provincial leaders have shown support for Steenhuisen to be re-elected at the DA's elective congress in Johannesburg this weekend. “We don't have provinces endorsing leaders at congresses. Every delegate makes their choice. We are confident that John will get 85% of the support from every province in the country. Our canvassing returns are looking strong.
