DA honours veteran journalist, Aids activist Lucky Mazibuko via SABCNewsOnline
Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane has honoured veteran journalist and Aids activist Lucky Mazibuko at his home in Emdeni in Soweto, on Saturday. He was amongst the Aids activists who forced the government to give ARV’s to people living with HIV/Aids.Maimane says despite this being viewed as electioneering, access to health is a problem in South Africa and parties will be judged on what they say and do about health.
“The DA will table a motion in the Johannesburg council to have Lucky Mazibuko’s work in the fight against HIV and AIDS recognised. This is the least we can do to honour his immense contribution to South African society,” said Maimane. The DA leader said he would continue to champion the cause of people like Mazibuko, saying politicians, as well as ordinary South Africans, should be recognised.
