Grocery retailers are getting slammed with orders. Walmart’s app Monday afternoon is showing the earliest available time is on Wednesday.Tom Thumb and Albertsons stopped accepting e-commerce orders for fulfillment on Tuesday. “We are currently seeing an increased customer demand in all channels,” stores and online, said Christy Lara, spokeswoman for Albertsons and Tom Thumb.
Central Market’s app included a winter weather advisory on its online ordering app that tells customers their online orders may include more substitutions and out-of-stocks than usual because of the weather. Much of North Texas, including Dallas County, is under a winter storm warning through Wednesday with the prospects of a combination of snow, ice and sleet creating hazardous conditions.
