But he added the act is only a first step in Alberta regaining a fair deal within Confederation, citing issues with the carbon tax, equalization payments and the composition of the country’s supreme court.Barnes said last month he wouldn’t rejoin UCP Loewen later returned to the UCP fold and is now Minister of Forestry, Parks and Tourism in the Smith-led UCP government.
