The incident occurred following an accident where a passing bus struck the door of a passenger vehicle just before 2 p.m. near the 3600 block of West 47th Street, according to police and the CTA. No injuries were reported on the bus or in the car, officials said.The supervisor was called in to assess the situation. While he was standing near the bus, a gunman inside a passing vehicle fired shots in his direction, striking the supervisor in his right thigh, according to police.
A valid concealed carry permit holder who witnessed the shooting pulled out their own firearm and shot toward the gunman’s fleeing vehicle, police said.The supervisor, 55, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said. A CTA spokesperson said the wounded employee was an unintended target. It was unclear whether the shooting involved the prior accident.
