Cruel carers who stole and mistreated the people they were paid to look after
Two separate incidents during one single night shift between April 6 and 7 2020 were reported by residents affected. Mr Hunter's conduct has since been reviewed during a hearing by the Nurse and Midwifery Council who used both residents as witnesses.
The NMC stated that Mr. Hunter’s actions put patients at risk of harm with more than one incident that took place over the course of a single shift. The incidents involved causing physical harm to a vulnerable patient in Mr Hunter’s care- they had the potential of causing serious and significant harm.
Furness General Hospital carer Jane Griffiths, 66, ignored the woman's cries and later told doctors that the patient had not complained that she was hurt. Griffiths, of Victoria Road, Barrow,Her victim suffered a broken hip and can no longer walk unaided, with doctors having to delay operating due to the life-threatening risks due to her age and the medical condition., Griffiths can be seen grappling the woman's handbag from her and throwing it into a room.
Chorlton pawned items belonging to the woman without her consent. Judge Guy Mathieson, sentencing, said: "I know what you say about the pressure placed on you and the like but you don't have to take it out on an elderly lady."
