Crown Gospel Music Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule passes away
According to a statement released by her husband, Mpendulo Nkambule, on social media platform X, the legendary radio and TV presenter passed away at Parklands Hospital in Durban in the early hours of Monday morning.
In May, Ukhozi FM listeners took to social media to wish Mbokazi-Nkambule a speedy recovery after she fell ill while on air the previous month.The presenter of"Eshilo" on Ukhozi FM could not finish her show on Sunday, April 21, as she had to be rushed to the hospital following challenges with her voice. It was later confirmed by her husband that Mbokazi-Nkambule had been diagnosed with lung cancer.Following her difficulty on air, we took her to the hospital to find out what was wrong.
The organisers said they felt it was important to give Mbokazi-Nkambule her flowers while she was still alive, just as she had given several musicians well-deserved glory while unleashing a number of new talents.Joyous Celebration founder Lindelani Mkhize referred to Mbokazi as one of the pillars of the gospel fraternity. He said everyone had been shaken by the situation in which the founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards found herself.
