A man is in hospital after he was hit by a bus.

Police closed a portion of a Metro Vancouver road following a pedestrian motor vehicle collision in the wee hours of Friday morning.

The Surrey RCMP received a call about the collision in the 14000 block of 96 Avenue around 2:40 a.m. Friday. A private bus was travelling east on 96 Avenue from 140 Street when it struck a man who was "crossing the street between intersections," explains a news release. After the collision, the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with the Surrey RCMP. While the investigation is still in its early stages, police do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the collision.

Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage in the area of 96 Avenue between 140 Street and Fraser Highway, should contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2023-102610.
