A new TikTok hilariously compiles all the expletive-filled moments so far from CriminalMindsEvolution
The agents of Criminal Minds: Evolution deliver all the expletives in a new TikTok compilation. A continuation of the long-running procedural, the Paramount+ version of Criminal Minds is distinguished from its predecessor in a number of ways. The show, rather than focusing on one case per week as the original Criminal Minds largely did, focuses on the serialized mystery of a mysterious killer who seemingly has a network of followers to do his bidding.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY But one change that's easy to discern is how the BAU team of Criminal Minds: Evolution is dropping expletives and four-letter words much more freely. A new TikTok helpfully complies those swears into a clip that runs for almost a full minute.
The show acknowledges the change in a funny way. At one point, when a character roars with a swear, the characters stop for just a second, as if they themselves are wondering whether they're allowed to talk like that. Paramount+ has a bit of a recent track record of using swearing inventively, as with Evil season 2's silent episode which snuck more than a few stealth F-bombs because of a storytelling loophole. Criminal Minds: Evolution is more upfront, but they still have fun with it.
On par with making the story more serialized and digging deep into the characters, the change in language is much needed. It was never organic for the characters, who have seen so much and continue to deal with so much, to limit their vocabulary. Criminal Minds: Evolution rectifies this, and it's safe to say that the compilation will almost certainly grow a little longer before the current season wraps up.
