A ‘creepy’ Scots nurse who bombarded a former mental health patient with ‘flirtatious’ Facebook messages despite her begging him to stop has been struck off. between March and April 2020.
The hearing was told that the woman, known as Patient A, had accepted a friend request from Linton before he began sending her messages and trying to call her around a week after leaving the facility. Despite telling him to leave her alone, the nurse continued attempting to engage her in conversation, with his actions found to be ‘sexually motivated’.
The NMC said: “Mr Linton would have been well aware of the policies in place regarding sexual conduct with patients and maintaining professional boundaries, which he chose to disregard. The panel also considered that Mr Linton’s actions in respect of sending an email of a threatening nature to someone investigating his conduct were also sufficiently serious to amount to misconduct.
“The panel determined that a fully informed member of the public would be concerned by Mr Linton’s actions. The charges found included matters that were considered to be sexually motivated and involved significant breaches of professional boundaries.
