This flexibility is critical, as the Cowboys have a precarious 2025 cap outlook. Previous years’ contract restructures, including multiple Dak Prescott deals that converted salary into signing bonus, provided immediate cap relief in exchange for tens of millions of dead-cap dollars being deferred to the future. That future is coming to a head.
If Martin returns in 2025, the table is set for the Cowboys to restructure Martin’s contract in the space between the end of the 2024 season and the March start of the 2025 league year.Michael Gehlken .
