In the offseason, Grier spent time with Prescott and made a tweak to his throwing motion. Instead of throwing more over the top, he’s using his shoulders in a rotational motion. It’s a subtle change in Grier’s game that was needed.
“I never tweaked it a lot or really thought about it a lot,” he said. “As I’ve grown and develop, I’ve been with Dak the whole offseason, I’ve just been following him around, doing what he does, and I’ve learned a lot from him and the guys he’s worked with just about being more rotational and taking care of your arm and things like that. So I had a good offseason trying to be a sponge with those guys.”without using an active roster spot on game days.
“I think the third and fourth quarterback are focal points. It’s tough. You want guys to earn that 52, 53 spot, and sometimes you get in that chess match and there are other components involved. That’s why that practice squad is so important.”, he was signed to the practice squad and was Rush’s backup for the games Prescott was out. He didn’t throw any passes. Grier could make his mark only in the preseason, which was limited because of his injury.
“I think just being consistent and not making mistakes,” Grier said of his objectives for Saturday. “At this point in my career, it’s just about playing time for me. I know I can play. I think the coaches know I can play. They want to see me go execute, drive the ball down the field, and at the end of the day, I know I’m prepared and I’ll be proud of what I put out on tape regardless.
