The province has also recorded the most number of deaths on Friday.
As of today, a cumulative total of 421,996 confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has announced.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased. The number of recoveries currently stands at 245,771 which translates to a recovery rate of 58% ,” said Mkhize.“36% of all cases in the country are in Gauteng and 42% of active cases in the country are in Gauteng.
This comes as the province has so far recorded 148 854 cases, with 77 397 recoveries and 1 187 deaths.
