COVID-19: Temporary hospital to be built in PE eNCA

One of its 66,000 square metre, unused plants in Korsten, Port Elizabeth, will be converted into a temporary hospital.The conversion will happen in phases, with Phase One expected to be completed in six to eight weeks.

Managing director of Volkswagen Group South Africa Thomas Schaefer says some of the funds will also be used to help local hospitals. “R25-million will be utilised to procure internet protective equipment for local government hospitals, local primary care clinics and 49 COVID-19 test centres,” said Schaefer.Eastern Cape premier Oscar Mabuyane says with this facility they look forward to being proactive in fighting the virus.
