The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 has increased from 11.2% last week to 12.8% this week. Covid-19 related hospital admissions have gone down by 40%.
The percentage testing positive was highest in Northern Cape , North West , Gauteng , Western Cape , KwaZulu-Natal , Free State and Limpopo . All the other provinces recorded positivity rates of less than 10%. "The highest weekly incidence risk of Covid-19 admissions reported in week 45 of 2022 was in the 65 and older age group , and the lowest weekly incidence risk was in the 20 to 34-year age group . An increased incidence risk of Covid-19 admissions has been observed in children younger than 5 since week 40," the NICD revealed.
