Newly detected COVID-19 infections in Burnaby also dropped in the past week.

Updated provincial data shows second dose vaccinations against COVID-19 among eligible Burnaby children continue to stall.

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control's Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence, Burnaby saw 26 new cases from June 19 to 25. As B.C. enters its third summer since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, infections continue to fall, as they typically do during the summer months.

Canada’s chief public health officer is therefore urging all Canadians to get a third vaccine, as two doses offer less protection against Omicron strains.
