JOHANNESBURG - The South African Medical Association says health facilities in Gauteng are in a bleak state.The province is expected to see a surge in cases in the coming weeks.Sama also says it is concerning that the taxi industry wants to defy the lockdown. According to Sama Chairperson Dr Angelique Coetzee In Gauteng, most of the hospitals for COVID-19 patients already at capacity.
"If you fill the taxi to maximum capacity, there is no way to get 1.5 metres distance between people. We need to make sure our people are safe. We are now moving into the eye of the storm."She says the public is in the dark about the state of health facilities.
