Traffic levels at the Sault border continue to climb post-pandemic

The bridge administration reported today that one-way crossings totalled 65,326 for the month of April, bringing year-to-date numbers to 240,669. That represents a year-to-date jump of 147.8 per cent compared to 2022.

One-way crossings include the total number of all northbound and southbound vehicles, said a bridge administration spokesperson. The difference in crossings comparing 2023 to 2022 is 21,790, an increase of 50.1 per cent for April, according to a news release. Expect those numbers to keep climbing. The White House announced earlier this week that the U.S. will end its COVID-19 vaccination requirements for international travellers on May 11, which means unvaccinated Saultites will once again be free to cross the border.
