Voices | Covid-19 gives Safa a chance to start up again with a clean slate and a new leadership, if it comes to that, writes Sello Rabothata.
The Mokoena Report, which accuses Safa president Danny Jordaan of flouting the organisation’s constitution, has set the cat among the pigeons.
The timing of its release raised questions, but the real issue was whether Jordaan had flouted the constitution or not.A Safa national executive committee member, Gladwyn White, argued that Mokoena was not the association’s spokesperson, while seemingly appointing himself to this role.If so, then what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander.
It should be noted that Jordaan also chairs the emergency committee, which should be addressing the current impasse. Before this week, the joint liaison committee had only sat twice since 2013 and the emergency committee once – during the $10 million Fifa Legacy Fund fiasco – while the other two have not had a look in.
Back to the argument of why we should raise these issues now. From where I stand, this question is an attempt to dodge the issues at hand.
