Court hears Andile 'Bobo' Mbuthu murder suspects were tortured

Claims of police torture have been made in the matter against five men accused of killing Tongaat teenager Andile ‘Bobo’ Mbuthu. ECRNewsWatch KZN

The 16-year-old boy was assaulted and his body was dumped in a local river after he was accused of stealing liquor at a tavern three years ago.

Lieutenant Colonel Samukele Nxumalo told the Verulam Magistrate's Court he received a phone call from the head of investigations in the KZN SAPS in the early hours of May 8 2020, asking him to go to his office at KwaMashu Police Station. Defence lawyer Chris Gounden then read out a medical report which referred to fresh, fine razor blade cuts on Nhleko’s back.
