'It's unbelievable - my worst fears about this have now come true.'
Lee Haynes and Jo Woodley have been left with a shock bill A couple has been hit with a shock five-figure gas bill after being left unable to pay for nearly two decades. Lee Haynes and Jo Woodley moved into their home in Tamworth, Staffordshire, in 2005 – but nobody could work out whose responsibility the gas supply was. The couple say they did ‘everything’ to try and pay, but they’ve now been hit with a huge gas bill out of the blue.
Three months later, they received a bill from Cadent for a whopping £10,824.87. The official invoice appeared last month, giving the couple 30 days to pay the huge bill – but they’re still none the wiser as to who has been supplying their gas for the last 18 years. Lee added: ‘I just don’t understand. The 1986 Gas Act says they can recover costs if I’m at fault but I’m not.
