The Spread Eagle was put up for sale early this year and there were fears it would be turned into housing
A couple say they are determined to ensure the survival of a Nottinghamshire village's only pub after fears earlier this year that it could have been lost forever. The Spread Eagle is located in Caunton Road in the village of Hockerton, near Southwell, and it had been operating since the 1930s.
In terms of why she was ready for change, Natalie, 31, said: "I had been in the care industry for 13 years and I really did love it, but it was also a 24/7 job and there was never any time that I had completely to myself. Blake and I were just ships passing in the night as well so doing this together will be really nice."
"I don't like getting rid of anything and so we've still got the cooker that was in here when we came, but it took us two hours to scrub each of the oven racks. Everything was in a state but we're pretty much there now." "We've done so much and we can't wait for people to see it. Our opening night is going to be a soft launch so we won't be doing food, because otherwise Blake would be in the kitchen all night and we're really keen for people to get a chance to meet us both."
