Sheriff Blankenship has seen his fair share of counterfeit cash, but even the ones that were used this week caught him by surprise.
HENRY COUNTY, Ala. - The making of fake money is an ancient practice, but better technology makes it harder to spot.
“A lot of our businesses use pens to mark what is real,” said Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship. “However, these bills marked as real.” “We wanted to inform them so businesses can be more observant, because some of it was pretty legit counterfeit,” said Blankenship.“This is the first instance we’ve had in several months.” said Blankenship. “It’s one of those things that spikes. There’s a little wave of it and then it goes away.”“We want to protect our local businesses,” said Blankenship. “It hit several all at the same time. That’s money out of their pockets.
