Northern Ireland councillor who moved to Blackpool accused of sexual communication with a child
A Norther Ireland councillor who moved to Blackpool failed to appear in court to face charges of attempting sexual communication with a child.
Cllr William Walker, of Palatine Road, faces two counts of the same charge relating a period between February 11 to 22 of this year. His case went before Downpatrick Court in Northern Ireland but Walker was not present. Walker currently represents Rowallane on Newry, Mourne and Down District Council but has been suspended by the Democratic Unionist Party . The court heard that he had left Northern Ireland to an address in England.Mr Walker was previously chairman of the old Down District Council before councils in Northern Ireland were reduced in 2015 under local government reforms, Belfast Live reports.
Legal aid and bail was granted for the accused who was said to "work part time". The case was adjourned at request from the prosecution for a full file to be prepared on November 3.
