Sharp said on July 17, she had taken her two kids for a swim at the Mount Pleasant outdoor pool.
She said she worked as a lifeguard 20 years ago, and is always scanning the water whenever she’s at a pool.“I looked over the lifeguard, and her eyes were on him,” said Sharp. “I was just probably closer and realized that he went down once, then the second time.Sharp said the boy was fine before long.
“I’m very grateful that that’s all it was, and he actually ended up enjoying the rest of the afternoon with his friends and family,” she said. The mayor brought the rescue to the attention of other councillors as she was wrapping up the council meeting on Wednesday. “ a little dude who jumped into a pool after his brother who could, in fact, not swim,” said the mayor. “So thank you very much for being local hero, Coun. Sharp.”
