People living in rural areas will pay £50 more a year for their council tax compared to the rest of the country 🏠 gracegausden93 looks at which councils have put up their prices and by how much?
How much your council tax goes up will depend on where you live. Although 84 councils out of 114 are increasing prices by the full 4.99 per cent, 30 have increased rates by less, ranging from 2 per cent to 4.84 per cent.
Inflation, currently at 10.5 per cent, is projected to add £1.5bn to the budgets of 40 county and rural councils in 2023/24. Council leaders say they recognise the cost of living pressures for residents, but have put forward maximum rises because they have “little choice” in order to set a balanced budget and to fund local services which will be vital for struggling households.
