Glasgow needs to remember the millions of women employed in the textile industry across the world as theCouncil leader, Susan Aitken recently spoke to the mayor of Dhaka North at a UN conference about Scotland’s proposals to “onshore” textile manufacturing and was reminded that this needed to be done in a way that was sustainable for his citizens.
The issue was raised at a recent full council meeting by Green councillor Holly Bruce who wanted to know what work had been done on developing a “sustainable”Councillor Susan Aitken informed members that discussions had been ongoing with the UK fashion and textiles council and that technology was developing all the time.
