Shropshire Council is being given another three months to convince the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership not to pull its £4.2 million funding from the North West Relief Road.

Instead, all members were asked to vote in writing following the meeting, and the LEP has now revealed they have held back from demanding the funds be returned immediately. This information must be produced by the end of October, by which time the council also expects a decision on the planning application to have been made.
“We feel we have been very patient with the council having first awarded this funding eight and a half years ago. The money came from the first round of the Government’s Local Growth Fund, from which the LEP secured £75.3m in 2014.
