A father who lost his son in a crash 13 years ago channels his grief into a mission for better road safety with a driver-training centre that could save countless lives.
In the wake of the crash, Mr Wells joined a State Government road safety committee that successfully lobbied for a suite of changes.
The following year the road toll in New South Wales for drivers and passengers aged between 17 and 25 dropped from 116 to 68 — and it has stayed around that level ever since."Motorbike riders have to do an accredited course," he said. "I can't teach my son or daughter responsible service of alcohol, I can't teach them responsible gambling, but I can teach them to drive."
