A Quebec Conservative MP says he would not stay with the party if Pierre Poilievre is chosen as leader on Sept. 10. In fact, Joël Godin, Conservative MP for Portneuf–Jacques-Cartier in the suburbs of Quebec City, said he may join an initiative to create a whole new party for both Conservatives and Liberals who are looking for an alternative.
Tasha Kheiriddin, a political commentator now acting as a strategist for Tory leadership candidate Jean Charest, has floated the idea of a Conservative-Liberal coalition, not unlike François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec, which brought together former Liberal and Parti Québécois supporters provincially.
