The Cougars got the scoring started just over ten minutes into the game with Caden Brown tipping one by Braden Holt to make it 1-0. Tyler Brennan was spectacular in goal, making 16 saves on 16 Victoria shots in the period. The Cats took the 1-0 lead to the dressing room after 20 minutes. It took just 27 seconds for #27 Riley Heidt to find the back of the net in the second period to make it 2-0.
The Royals went to a 5 on 3 power-play and the Cougars penalty-kill was terrific. The Cats got big shot blocks and even bigger saves from Tyler Brennan. The Royals cut into the lead with a Marcus Almquist short-handed marker, which was quickly countered by Viliam Kmec, who scored 22 seconds later to re-store the Cougars two-goal lead.
Chase Wheatcroft added a goal late in the second to make it 4-1 PG after 40 minutes.
